I tried to add a Poll to see if a feature might help this issue. I wanted some more buttons, but it only let me pick 2 options. I also emailed the [email protected]' to invite them to take a peek at this thread.

Thanks!

Default The new poll...

Is there anyway to have a positive option? Something like:

Don't care. Let the players do their own thing.

That way others who disagree with the whole censorship of other's preferences can have a say.

You can add up to 10 options for a poll I believe, as long as you know where to look.

Myself, I've never seen any of these dance parties personally, since I'm using every available minute to run through the game and do missions and such. I'm also not in the situations where some of you guys are, considering I'm only 18 and have no wife. It doesn't bother me much at all, and my parents wouldn't mind if they saw anything going on (of course, my parents are insane, so it's only natural). I can see where you guys are coming from though.

Edit: Forgot to mention this, but I'd rather see this left alone, since once the game actually starts, I think that this type of public display will cut down drastically. At least it won't be as commonplace as it is near the ends of events, since it is the end of the event, and people are just trying to unwind.

i think this is going a bit overboard

they are not photo realistic

the *underwear* covers more than most real life underwear

and to top it off there are people who have complained the fully clothed toons were indecently exposed

no matter where the line is drawn someone will complain

if enough people complain they can stream in something else

lets let them get the game out before complaining

EDIT

how many would still complain if the exact same areas were covered but it was in a beach bikini style?

Agreed; unless you actually see some actual indecent "flesh" exposure, as in private parts, then there's no reason to try and censor them. Like Loviatar said, there will always be people who will think that the clothing options are going overboard, so we can't make everybody happy, since if we changed how the dancing toons are and the "naked" dancing, then there would be those people who partake in those events who would complain.

Actually, In my humble assesment, they are about as decent as most swimwear. Some of them (The female elementalist, especially) seem much more "College Girls Gone Wild" with thier clothes on.

It's not as much what they wear (or don't wear, as the case may be) IMHO, so much as what they do. A lot of the dances seem considerably more risque' than they need to be for the game, and how people behave with some of the emotes and overlapping can be quite... well, this is where, IMHO, a lot of the trouble comes in. Even if The Power That Be(tm) did tone down the visuals, people would still be acting stupid, in a non-public-area, "Mom and Dad are out for the weekend, let's have a rave" sort of way.

On the other hand, the Nekkid Parties seemed to be a way to celebrate the end of the BWE, and this may not happen very often once the game goes commercial. If things get sufficiently out of hand, TPTB(tm) might could maybe send in a brigade of Fire-Gwens and that'd be the end of that. ^_^

If someone knows how to edit this poll to add a few other options like:

c) This is not an issue in guild wars

, I will do it. I cant seem to edit the poll or add more than two options.

Thanks!

This type of nitpicking really bothers me. There are far worse thing's in this world and you choose to complain about an animation in a video game, shame on you.

1. It's a game-learn how to have fun with it.
2. Some people find dancing in the near nude "funny" or "entertaining".
3. You are NOT subjected to it- there are multiple districts in every town-every zone. Not a valid argument. Don't like it? leave the district.
4. Your maturity level should be high enough to be able to accept these small things. If your family doesn't approve, then don't play it around them, that simple.

Chat filters are reasonable and exist with good reason. Wanting people to "fix" up a command just so you don't have to watch undressed people dance is silly.

-snipped for space-

I appreciate that you feel this is a non-issue, but we feel it's important. And while your viewpoint is welcome, the derisive comments are slightly less so. ^_^

you can ask them to add to it (at least on my old board you can) or delete it and redo the poll with several options so you catch the people who didnt vote because of the 2 choices (like me) or have voted for the lesser of 2 evils so to speak

I agree 100% Bnet has too much to do with just getting the game out on time. I am one of the people who think the near-nude dancing is funny and have takin part in two nude danceing partys. Does that make me a bad person or should I not be Allowed to do so. Once you start Censorship it is hard to stop an in the end all you will make is a LAME game that trys not to ofend anybody and is utterly and completely BORING. The partys will mostly stop after the BWE anyway it is only the "World is comming to an End" feeling at the end of each BWE that spawns them. That being said as this Aprils BWE is the Last one I predict one more huge party and you can bet I will be there.

Actually, I think you'll find that Spoon of Death's original message was not that he wished everyone would conform to his wishes, just that he wanted to be able to play the game and not look at everyone else doing whatever. A subtle difference, I grant you, but an important one.

so what you're saying is we're unteachable or that one can only have fun if they're half naked or??

How about this, it IS a game so leave the objectionalable things out of it.

Why do we have to leave? Do you just leave when presented something you find objectionable, probably not. We're not less than human nor did we pay less for the game, so we're not the ones that should leave.

It is a very valid arguement because we have also paid for the game. And this game is not rated adults only. It is rated E.

Actually our maturity level is pretty high along with our moral standards. If you have a family there is no time when they're not around. And why would one go sneaking around to play, that's being deceitful. There is no reason why one can't play in the open a game that's rated E. If you have children you understand the issue pretty clearly.

Only silly to you. I'd argue that there is little difference between a chat filter and a visual filter. Both serve to keep you from having to be subjected to things you don't want to be.

Don't trash people's moral standards. We're not idiots or less than human because we have them.

Can someone confirm that GW has actually received an "E" rating? My preorder box says "RP": Rating Pending. And most online games have a footnote to that rating that says "content may change during online play" or some such.

BTW, how can one complain about the moral message offered by a game that proudly features killing other human beings wantonly in a PvP arena? Naked dancing is wrong, but mass destruction of others based on guild tags is OK?

If they end up putting in a "nudity switch" so that people who are offended can turn it off, then fine. We'll all be happy. But Guild Wars is a work of commercial art created by the developers with their own creative expression in mind. If you don't appreciate it, then do whatever you do when a movie or song offends you: turn it off and go spend some quality time with your family.

And it really is true, what many people are saying ... once the BWE's are over and the game goes live, the naked dancing will likely stop. Unless, of course, people start doing it just to get a rise out of those of you who are likely to complain. Should I complain to A-Net because I think that Gwen's massacre last Sunday presents a negative rolemodel that might lead young girls to pyromania and serial killing?
